TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- STANDARDS PURCHASED FROM SABS WEBSTORE (FORMATS AND DELIVERY).
1.1 The Webstore only sells South African National Standards (“standards”) issued and published by the South African Bureau of Standards (“SABS”) in their updated edition(s), which can be purchased in a downloadable PDF format or as a hard copy format. A customer must select between a downloadable PDF format and a hard copy format when purchasing from the Webstore. The two formats constitute two different products and are not interchangeable.
1.2 A downloadable PDF standard must be downloaded from the store. A hard copy version of the standard can be collected at the SABS Head Office (Groenkloof, Pretoria). Alternatively, a customer can choose the collect option, and arrange its (customer’s) own courier service to collect and ship the standard(s).

2.1 The copyright in a standard or a publication issued by the SABS vests in the SABS. No person may, without the authorization of the SABS in any manner or form, publish, reproduce or record any standard or publication issued by the SABS.
2.2 The downloaded and hard copy standard will contain the name of the legitimate licence holder. The purchaser must nominate the end-user when purchasing the standard. The name of the end-user will display as a watermark on each page of the standard, which denote that a single-user licence was purchased. The purchaser can purchase more than one licence for various end-users.
2.3 A downloaded standard, which has a single-user licence, shall be used on one electronic device only. Only one backup of the PDF standard is permitted. In addition to the foregoing, the end-user is allowed only one printout copy of the standard.
2.4 Standards purchased from the Webstore, may not be shared on a network server, intranet server, Website, cloud storage device with access to a number of users, unless specific permission has been granted by the SABS.
2.5 The SABS reserves the right to build DRM (Digital Rights Management) features into its (SABS’) products in order to manage unauthorised duplication.

3.1 When a customer or user sends an email to the SABS, alternatively if they visit the SABS Webstore and generate a request or communication to the SABS they consent to receiving communication from the SABS electronically.
3.2 SABS abides by confidentiality principles and the obligations imposed by the Protection of Personal Information Act (“POPIA”) relating to the safeguarding of personal information of data subjects. By forwarding/ sending your personal information to SABS, irrespective of how you send it, you voluntarily and specifically give your informed consent for SABS to collect, record, store and use your information for the purposes of generally processing your request/ application, and where applicable, to disseminate and/ or share it with SABS’ service providers or stakeholders for the purpose of processing your request/application or any matter incidental to your request/application.
3.3 SABS undertakes to make every reasonable effort to protect and secure your personal information. To process your request /application, or to fulfil certain legal requirements it may be necessary to share your personal information with other employees in different departments of the SABS, SABS stakeholders or contracted service providers (both locally and abroad). SABS has valid agreements with the service providers it uses and has taken reasonable steps to ensure that its service providers are legally bound to the same, if not more stringent principles than POPIA; or at least have policies in place for protection of personal information. Should you be forwarding/ sending personal information on behalf of a juristic person, by doing so, you confirm that you have obtained the necessary authority to do so.
3.4 You can have access to your information at any time and / or request SABS to change or correct such information. You may also object to SABS processing your personal information, subject to certain legal limitations or business requirements. If you think your personal information is being compromised, or that it has not been protected, please refer your complaints to email@example.com
PRICES AND FEES
4.1 The net price of each standard is displayed when searching or when categories of standards are navigated. VAT is levied on all standards and products.
4.2 Customers are advised to study the preview of standards before they purchase in order to ensure that they are purchasing the correct standard. Alternatively customers can contact Webstore Support (firstname.lastname@example.org ) or SABS Customer Relations (email@example.com ) to obtain more information regarding standards that they are planning to purchase. No returns for credit are accepted where the order has been correctly executed.
5.1 SABS accepts credit card and instant EFT payments. The SABS makes use of the services of a reputable third-party service provided for credit card and instant EFT payment services. Should any enquiries arise in relation to either of the payment methods, the SABS will raise the enquiry via a terminal. If this proves unsatisfactory, the SABS undertakes to directly contact the service provider to establish the reasons for transactions not approved or released.
5.2 Customers must use the order number as reference number when making EFT (not instant EFT) payments. Following the payment, customers should allow up to 48 hours for the transaction to be approved and released. EFT payments made on a Friday (excluding public holidays) can at the earliest be released on a Monday following the weekend. Customers must make full payment (including VAT) for the product. Instalment sales are not permitted.
6.1 Any person who delivers or attempts to deliver any damaging code to this Webstore or attempts to gain unauthorized access to any page on the Webstore shall be prosecuted and civil action taken against them in the event that SABS suffers any damage or loss.
6.2 It is the responsibility of the customer or user to protect their login name and password and not disclose them to third parties.
7.1 All transactions or possible disputes are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
